PECO is conducting aerial inspections of power lines across its service area this week using a low-flying helicopter, Solebury Township police said.

The helicopter is equipped with specialized imaging and data-gathering equipment and is flying at low altitudes to inspect power lines and infrastructure.

Flight data indicated the helicopter was flying approximately 350 feet above ground level as it conducted inspections Sunday afternoon over Solebury Township, New Hope Borough and Buckingham Township.

PECO said the inspections are a routine part of its maintenance program and allow the company to identify and address potential issues before they cause power outages.

“This inspection process allows PECO to identify potential issues before they cause outages, ensuring that PECO customers receive the reliable service they expect,” the company said in a statement.

PECO assured residents the flights are part of normal maintenance operations and thanked them for their cooperation and understanding.
