A fundraising mailer claiming to benefit local police has prompted a warning from the New Hope Borough Police Department.

Residents have reported receiving solicitations from the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association. The mailers, titled “New Hope Area Police, 2025 Annual Support for America’s Police,” request donations for police equipment and training, including what they term an “emergency bulletproof vest project.”

An “I Support My Local Police” bumper sticker was included.

Although the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association is a real organization, New Hope Borough police clarified they have no connection to the group. They stated they are not aware of any local police department affiliated with the association.

The New Hope Borough Police Department noted the importance of donor awareness. They recommend that before contributing to any charity, individuals should investigate the organization to confirm their donation will support the cause they intend.
