Two of the five seats for the Hunterdon County Commissioners were on the ballot this November.
Incumbent Republicans commissioners Jeff Kuhl and Susan Soloway won reelection, according of unofficial results.
The two Republicans were challenged by Democrats Daniel Connor and Robert Parkanyi.
The two Democrats pledged to make the county government serve citizens better and cut inefficiencies.
Soloway received criticism in 2021 after the New Jersey Globe reported that she attended former President Donald Trump’s January 6, 2021, rally that took place leading up to his supporters attacking the U.S. Capitol. Images posted by the commissioner showed her on the capitol grounds, but she later said she left and was “scared” as the crowd turned violent.
In New Jersey, county commissioners are part-time elected legislators who run the county government. The body votes on the budget, administers county services and operations, oversees various boards and agencies, and works with local, state, and federal officials.
