Former President Donald Trump is expected to host a campaign rally in Bucks County next week, according to multiple sources involved with the planning.
While details remain tentative, local Republicans, law enforcement, and campaign officials are actively preparing for the event that is expected to take place on either Saturday, October 19, or Sunday, October 20, the sources told this news organization.
The rally is likely to take place in Lower Bucks County, but a specific venue has not yet been confirmed, sources said.
The Trump campaign has not officially commented on a potential stop in Bucks County. However, Republican insiders have been hinting at a planned visit since late spring, eyeing October for the event.
Bucks County is a critical swing county in Pennsylvania and will be pivotal for the upcoming presidential election.
Trump, who narrowly lost the county to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, is returning to an area that has seen tight races in past cycles.
Democrats have not yet dispatched Vice President Kamala Harris or Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to Bucks County, but several surrogates have been in the area, including Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and actress Jennifer Garner. Harris and Walz, like Trump and Vance, have been regular visitors to the Keystone State.
The expected Trump visit comes amid heightened security concerns following an incident last month where the FBI has accused a man of attempting to shoot Trump. The former president was the target of a failed assassin in July and suffered a small wound to his ear, coming inches from more grave wounds.
The threats against Trump and political figures on the left and right have led to heightened security measures from the U.S. Secret Service.
U.S. Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, in Newtown Township last month, had extremely tight security. The event featured local, county, state, and federal law enforcement, coordinated by the U.S. Secret Service. The rally location was surrounded by federal special agents, uniformed police, local tactical team members, and counter sniper teams.
Trump was last in Bucks County in April for a high-dollar fundraiser in Newtown Township.
In 2016, Trump held a campaign rally at the Newtown Sports Training and Events Center, and Trump put on an October 2020 reelection rally in Upper Makefield Township.
