Drivers in the area should prepare for delays and detours as three PennDOT projects are set to close sections of River Road (Route 32) for maintenance.

Starting Tuesday, October 8, through Friday, October 11, Greenhill Road will be closed between Sugan Road and Mechanicsville Road in Solebury Township from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day for pipe replacement.

Due to the closure, drivers are advised to use Mechanicsville Road and Sugan Road.

Further closures will occur on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, as River Road will be shut down between Point Pleasant Pike and Greenhill Road in Plumstead and Solebury townships for additional mechanical patching.

Recommended detour routes during these closures include Point Pleasant Pike, Durham Road, Mechanicsville Road, and Greenhill Road.

In a separate project, River Road will be closed on weekdays from Wednesday, October 9, through Wednesday, October 16, between Dark Hollow Road and Point Pleasant Pike in both Tinicum and Plumstead townships. The closures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. are for mechanical patching.

During the closure, drivers should use Dark Hollow Road, Durham Road (Route 413), and Point Pleasant Pike as detours.

PennDOT said they will assure that local access will be maintained to residences and businesses in the impacted areas.

Drives have been urged to allow extra time when passing through these areas as significant backups and delays are expected.

The schedule for the work is dependent on weather conditions.
