Two men were arrested following a joint narcotics investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and City of Lambertville police, officials announced Wednesday evening.

Carl Decicco, 33, of Lambertville, and Rayshawn Robbins, 39, of Trenton, were arrested on Tuesday after authorities observed them engaging in a narcotics transaction, said Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and Lambertville Police Department Lt. Robert Brown.

The arrests were the result of a probe launched in early September by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Narcotics Task Force and Lambertville police after reports of illegal drug transactions in the area of George Street, authorities said.

Decicco is charged with third-degree possession of heroin, and Robbins faces a charge of third-degree distribution of heroin. Both men were taken into custody without incident, charged on summonses, and released pending court appearances.

Third-degree criminal charges in New Jersey carry potential penalties including three to five years in prison and fines up to $15,000. It is important to note that a charge is not evidence of guilt and that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, the prosecutor’s office said.

Editor’s Note: All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The story was compiled using information from police and public court documents.
