The New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, for three hours early Friday morning to facilitate construction.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced that the closure will start at 2 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 5 a.m. on Friday, August 16.

The closure will affect both motorists and pedestrians planning to cross between New Hope Borough and the City of Lambertville.

During the closure, crews will set up a temporary construction crane necessary for the installation of new walkway panels and a temporary gantry.

The work is part of ongoing improvements expected to continue through September.

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to plan their routes accordingly and consider alternative crossings of the Delaware River during this period.

Preparation for the construction will begin on Thursday evening.

The commission expects favorable weather conditions, which should allow the bridge to reopen for Pennsylvania-bound traffic and pedestrians in time for Friday morning’s commute.
