Ten Italian Air Force attack jets caused a rumble throughout parts of central and lower Bucks County Monday morning as they passed overhead twice.

Around 10:30 a.m., the noise from the jets could be heard at they flew from Hunterdon County into Solebury Township and over Newtown Township toward Philadelphia.

By 10:45 a.m., the jets from Italian Air Force’s Frecce Tricolori, which translates to “Tricolor Arrows,” were undertaking several passes over Philadelphia and dispersing green, white, and red smoke as they soared past.

A reader captured a photo as the planes passed over Brewerytown in Philadelphia.

The jets then left the city and passed over Bensalem Township, Lower Southampton Township, Middletown Township, Newtown Township, and Upper Makefield townships as they flew away. They left behind a trail of green, white, and red smoke as they flew overhead.

Many along the route could see the formation as it passed at several thousand feet above the ground.

The flyover was part of Frecce Tricolori’s 2024 North American Tour, which will end with the Ocean City, Maryland, Air Show later this month.

The flying demonstration team is touring North America for the first time in more than three decades.

Frecce Tricolori has been around since the 1960s and flies the two-seater Aermacchi MB-339 attack jet. The team is known around the world for leaving behind a green, white, and red trail of smoke.
