Regional forecasters at the National Weather Service are warning residents to prepare for a tumultuous week of weather.

This week is feature high temperatures and several storm threats, including potential impacts from Hurricane Debby.

Starting Monday, the region will experience sweltering temperatures in the 90s, which will peak on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

There will be moderate humidity levels with the high temperatures, and the heat could pose significant risks, particularly to those sensitive to heat conditions.

While a Heat Advisory has not been issued, officials urged caution.

Monday night could see the onset of severe weather as forecasters raised concern for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging downburst wind gusts. The gusts could lead to downed trees and power lines, forecasters said.

The weather concerns continue into Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, as the area faces a moderate risk for heavy rain and flash flooding due to storms. Accompanying the heavy rains are anticipated damaging winds and downbursts, which could lead to the potential for damage, forecasters said.

Later in the week, the remnants of Hurricane Debby, which made landfall in Florida on Monday morning, are expected to affect the region.

Hurricane Debby is predicted to diminish to a tropical storm by Monday night, and it will linger over the southeast for much of the week.

By the week’s end, direct impacts from the storm are expected in the region.
