The Bucks County Department of Workforce and Economic Development has announced the Build Business in Bucks Grant that is focused on bolstering small businesses through enhanced training and services.
The grant program is targeting local businesses that are small in scale but pivotal to the county’s economic landscape.
Recent data from the Center for Workforce Information and Analysis indicates that small businesses, which are defined as having fewer than 50 employees, constitute 86 percent of all business enterprises in Bucks County. The 17,962 entities are often challenged by the need for professional expertise in fields like accounting, marketing, and human resources.
The Build Business in Bucks Grant promises to provide up to $3,000 each to 65 local businesses, officials said.
The grant program was created to nurture entrepreneurial skills through services and training.
Eligible businesses must be for-profit, based in Bucks County, and established within the last five years.
Priority will be given to businesses owned by veterans, minorities, and women.
Applicants must explain how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted them and how specific training in areas like fiscal consulting or human resources could advance their business.
Selected businesses will choose from a list of qualified local partners for services. The partners are required to be members of a Bucks County-based chamber of commerce, business association, or networking group.
The deadline for grant applications is July 31.
