A beloved breakfast and lunch spot in the City of Lambertville has closed its doors.

The Full Moon Café on Bridge Street served its last meal to diners on Sunday.

The closure, which appeared to come with little advanced notice, was first reported by the NJ 101.5 radio station on Sunday.

A tipster to NewHopeFreePress.com reported on Sunday evening that a closed sign was posted, but there was no immediate indication that the closure was permanent.

By Monday afternoon, a sign from the owners confirmed their retirement and thanked customers for many years of patronage.

The cafe’s social media pages were taken down, and the website did not mention the closure.

The Full Moon Cafe, a Lambertville institution for decades, had seen several owners over the years.

Known for its unique offering of dinner only when the moon was full, the cafe was a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

News of the closure spread quickly through the city and on Facebook, prompting an outpouring of nostalgia and well-wishes from the community.

“One of my favorite places in our town. I wish them all the best,” a commenter wrote on the Lambertville, NJ Facebook group.

Another added, “Wow. Really going to miss this place. My absolute favorite Benedict. Spent many Mother’s Days there.”

Attempts to reach the cafe’s ownership on Monday were not successful.
