Solebury Township appears to be moving closer to hiring a new police chief.

Kelley Warner, the former Abington Township, Montgomery County deputy police chief, announced last week that she will be stepping down as the police chief of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She held the job since summer 2021.

In her announcement, Warner said she would be hired as the new chief of Solebury Township.

The Solebury Township Board of Supervisors hasn’t yet officially voted to hire a new chief to replace current Chief Dominick Bellizzie, who will retire in July.

Solebury Township Manager Christopher Garges told NewHopeFreePress.com that the township is still working on hiring a new chief.

“We are still actively involved in the hiring process, and as a personnel matter, I cannot comment on that process,” he said.

Bellizzie became Solebury Township’s chief on June 1, 2006.

Bellizzie was previously the police chief for the City of Coatesville in Chester County and a commander in the Philadelphia Police Department.

Supervisors Chairperson Mark Baum Baicker said at a public meeting this spring that the township was working to find a new chief.

Bellizzie told the supervisors he will miss working in Solebury Township.
