The New Hope Arts Center has announced its upcoming Juried Fiber Exhibition, titled “Structures and Constructions in Fiber.”
Curated by the renowned Rita Gekht, the exhibition challenges artists to explore and reinterpret fiber techniques and the concept of structures as a visual theme.
The exhibit is set to run from June 29 to August 18.
The exhibition is accepting submissions through May 13.
It offers artists a unique opportunity to present their work in two and three dimensions, including fiber installations and mixed media, with at least 50 percent of the materials being fiber-based.
The New Hope Arts Center is located in a 200-year-old converted mill.
The exhibition seeks to push the boundaries of traditional fiber art, inviting artists to experiment and present their perspectives on the chosen theme, organizers said.
“We’re excited to see how artists interpret the theme of ‘Structures and Constructions in Fiber, this is a fantastic opportunity for fiber artists to push their boundaries and present their unique perspectives on this intriguing subject,” said Rita Gekht, the exhibition’s curator.
Artists interested in participating can submit up to three pieces for consideration, along with an entry form, JPEG images, a resume, and an artist statement. The application fee is $40, or $30 for members of the New Hope Arts, payable online or by check. Entries should be emailed to newhopeartsorg@gmail.com or sent by mail to the center’s address at 2 Stockton Avenue, New Hope, PA 18938.
Gekht will oversee the blind jury process to select works based on artistic excellence and aesthetic vision. Selected artists will be notified by email.
The exhibition is supported in part by funding from the Visit Bucks County Tourism Grant Program and individual sponsors Roger Thomas, Ricki Fisher, and Larry Keller.
