Sky-gazers in the area are gearing up for the solar eclipse this Monday, and two local institutions are organizing events for the community to safely enjoy the celestial phenomenon.
Washington Crossing Historic Park in Upper Makefield and Solebury townships is offering a viewing opportunity.
The park’s naturalist will guide attendees through the event in a field setting, promising an unobstructed view of one of nature’s most fascinating spectacles.
Eye protection will be provided to those who registered in advance.
Participants are advised to wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
The event is currently full, but interested individuals can email mtruesdale@pa.gov to be placed on a waiting list.
What Will Monday’s Solar Eclipse Look Like In New Hope & Lambertville?
The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library on Radcliffe Street in Bristol Borough is set to host an event from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The event will offer crafts and activities. It will also feature a live broadcast from NASA, capturing the eclipse from the point of totality. Attendees are encouraged to participate as citizen scientists by using the Globe Observer App to record data during the event.
In addition, the library announced a raffle to participants of the Total Eclipse event with the prize being a year-long Family Membership to the Franklin Institute.
The library asked attendees to bring their own eclipse glasses, as their supply has run out.
For those unable to attend the events or who will be at work or home, the eclipse can be witnessed from any location with a clear view of the sky. The forecast for Monday afternoon is partly sunny.
