The newest officer to join the Solebury Township Police Department is from the area.
District Judge Maggie Snow performed the swearing in for Officer Larry Grawe Jr.
Grawe is a local resident and a New Hope-Solebury High School graduate. His father was the late Cpl. Larry A. Grawe, who served the township from 1967 to 2006.
Chief Dominick Bellizzie said Grawe worked for the Philadelphia Police Department for 10 years before being hired by Solebury Township. He added that Grawe earned several awards in the city, including for perfect attendance.
Also at the meeting, Bellizzie handed out a number of commendations to law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.

Commendation of Merit – Officer Gina Ferzetti and Officer Anthony Viruet-Melendez for the arrest of two suspects that were wanted by multiple police agencies.
Commendation of Merit – Paramedic Thomas Richmond, EMT Ashley Hutchinson, and EMT Connor Myers for life saving measures performed during a call for a suicidal subject.
Commendation of Merit – Officer Brendan Murphy, Officer Patrick Dorsey, and Cpl. Michael Johnson (Plumstead Township Police) for life saving measures performed during a call for a suicidal subject.
Commendatory Citation – Police K9 Blitz and Officer Matthew Rice for assisting in a narcotics investigation that resulted in the seizure of heroin with a street value of over $10,000.
Commendatory Citation – Sgt. Kevin Edwards and Detective Cpl. Jonathan Koretzky for a criminal investigation resulting in the arrest of three suspects and recovery of over $4,000 in stolen property.
