A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for Bucks County and Hunterdon County as the National Weather Service predicts potentially damaging thunderstorms for Monday afternoon and evening.
The main threats are strong winds, potential tornadoes, and flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service’s regional office.
Forecasters expect daytime temperatures in the high 80s with thunderstorms beginning to roll in later in the day, forecasters said.
By evening, the weather could potentially cause hazardous conditions on the roads and increase the risk of flash floods.
After the thunderstorms, patchy fog could set in overnight.
“The primary threat will be damaging winds with a couple tornadoes possible. Flash flooding remains a threat as well,” forecasters said.
The Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma has placed the area under an “enhanced” state of risk for severe storms. This categorization is used when conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms, and indicates an increased potential for storms that can produce damaging winds and heavy rain.
Overnight Sunday into Monday, the region had about half-an-inch of rainfall.
