The hottest temperatures of the summer are expected to hit the area this week.
Forecasters from the National Weather Service are predicting very warm temperatures later in the week.
National Weather Service forecasters said that the third week of July is typically the warmest week of the year, based on climatological norms.
Based on past years, average temperatures will slowly decrease over the next couple of week, before dropping off in September.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 69. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
