The City of Lambertville tax assessor was arrested this week and charged after an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Thursday, Richard Carmosino, 70, of Lambertville, was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson, the arrest was made as a result of a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that was investigated by the county’s Forensic Services Unit.
“Mr. Carmosino is currently employed as the Tax Assessor in the City of Lambertville. The incident was not connected to Mr. Carmosino’s employment,” the statement from the prosecutor’s office said.
Carmosino has been lodged in the Warren County Jail, where he will remain until his first court appearance.
The office of tax assessor handles overseeing information on property and property ownership in the city. The tax assessor is also tasked with determining the taxable value of property and related functions.
