Gordon E. Darling, of Sergeantsville, N.J., died at his home on Saturday, Nov. 7. He was 71.
Born in New York City, his family came to Hunterdon County when he was a young boy. He lived most of his life in Delaware and Solebury Townships. Gordon graduated from Hunterdon Central High School and attended Muhlenberg College.
Professionally, Gordon was a product representative in the plastics industry, owning and operating Superior Industrial, specializing in injection molding machines and robotics. He had offices all along the east coast, and worked primarily with Japanese manufacturers. Later on down the road, Gordon went on to a second career, establishing and operating Salon G in Sergeantsville.
A man of many interests, he enjoyed cooking, travel, sailing, entertaining friends, music and the fine arts.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Samantha M. Wheeler, and her husband Douglas of Keswick, Va.; his son Grant M. Darling of Stockton, N.J.; his grandson Patrick James Conroy of Keswick; his sister Beth Maclin and her husband Ed of Urbana, Ill., and his niece Lily Maclin of Seattle.
A memorial gathering will be scheduled for a future date.
