A solo exhibition by artist Michael Leaver is open now through Nov. 29 at Caravan in Lambertville.
“Stolen Moments” is a collection of more than 20 oil paintings exploring the themes of intimacy and solitude and the variety of emotions and expressions that come with being alone.
“I am fascinated with capturing the mood or story of the subject in my artwork,” Leaver explained. “Once the tone of the scene is clear, all the other artistic elements such as light, contrast, and color come into place. If I can communicate that emotion to the viewer, and they feel what I felt when creating it, that is the best reward and what keeps me coming back to the canvas.”
Leaver lives and works in Bucks County, and has been featured in Skin and Ink Magazine, Sidetracks Gallery in New Hope, the Doylestown Arts Festival, and the Rittenhouse Arts Festival in Philadelphia. He has studied under Casey Baugh, in the academic lineage of Richard Schmid.
Located within Canal Studios, Caravan is a warehouse-style space for artists to display their work and host events, and offers both socially-distanced gallery hours and individual private viewings.
Caravan is located at 278 N. Union St. in Lambertville. Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 12-8 p.m. and Sunday 12-6 p.m.
