New Hope’s ever-popular John and Peter’s restaurant and music club at 96 S. Main St. will start serving breakfast this weekend.
The morning menu will initially be offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 to 11;30 a.m.
Selections will include breakfast classics like eggs, corned beef hash, waffles, breakfast burritos, and John and Peter’s very own Tots Benedict — tater tots topped with fried eggs, pork roll and hollandaise sauce.
“People are looking for breakfast options, and there aren’t many in town,” observed John and Peter’s owner Mike Wieners.
Wieners said the idea for offering breakfast at the iconic New Hope nightspot arose from additional covid-19 restrictions imposed by Gov. Wolf that allowed restaurants to expand service to 50% capacity, while further limiting alcohol service.
“It was really a response to the latest round of restrictions shutting down alcohol sales at 11 p.m.,” Wieners explained. “Eleven p.m. to 2 a.m. was 30 percent of sales for places like ours, the Green House, Havana, and Fran’s Pub. We have to maximize the hours we’re allowed to be open.”
Wieners hopes the community will continue its strong support for local businesses like John and Peter’s.
“All the restaurants in town are struggling and doing what they can to make sure they’re here to serve the community for years to come,” he said.
I will be there tomorrow morning with my wife and son, who is one of New Hope’s most renowned corned beef hash connoisseurs. Gov Wolf is a monumental douche.
Agreed. The last thing.. unfortunately I won’t be able to make it there tomorrow!
