New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School (LES) Principal Jennifer Bloom will read aloud online daily to youngsters who are home due to coronavirus-related school closings starting Wednesday.
“Beginning tomorrow at 11 a.m., I am going to try and host a daily read aloud for our Littlest Lions via Zoom,” she wrote to local parents. “I will host this from my home at 11 a.m. each day, Monday-Friday. I have never done this before — so it may not work so well the first time (or two) that I try it — but I’m going to jump in and give it a try.”
Bloom said that the readings will not be limited to New Hope-Solebury LES students.
Participants can sign in online, and do not need a Zoom account. They will be muted upon joining the meeting to avoid interruptions.
She advises participants to make sure the camera on their device is working before signing on so she can be seen reading.
“Hopefully this will be a fun activity we can do together during this time,” said Bloom. “I’ll read for about 15 to 20 minutes. I’m also going to try and record the videos so you can access them later.”
