The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is checking into an officer-involved shooting Sunday night near the police station in New Hope.
“Bucks County detectives are investigating a shooting involving the New Hope Borough Police Department,” confirmed James O’Malley, director of communications for the Bucks County D.A. He said that he was not aware of any injuries to law enforcement personnel.
According to one source, a New Hope police officer fired his weapon at a man already in custody during a scuffle at or near the police station. The wounded man was hospitalized.
The Bucks D.A.’s involvement is typical in situations where police have resorted to the use of their weapons.
The New Hope Police Department hasn’t yet released information on the shooting.
