Passing of Bruce Edward Rock of Lambertville

Bruce E. Rock, 68, formerly of Lambertville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at his home in Ewing, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Doylestown, Bruce lived in Lambertville before moving to Ewing four years ago. He was employed by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission for 18 years before retiring 10 years ago.

Active in the Lambertville community, Bruce was a past member of the Union and the Hibernia Volunteer Fire Companies, served on the Lambertville Office of Emergency Management and was the first male president of the South Hunterdon Regional High School PTA. He was a past governor of the Lambertville Moose Lodge, and volunteered to assist Jim Hamilton in several community fund raisers. Bruce was a graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy and served in the US Army.

Bruce was the son of the late William A. Rock, Sr. He is survived by his wife Terry Pearson Rock; his mother Carmella “Mildred” Vitale Rock; his children Shawn Rock, Bruce Rock and Scott Rock (wife Marijean); his step-children Nicholas Knechel (wife Randi), and Amanda Brown (husband Mark); his granddaughter Hailey Brown “Pop-pop’s # 1 girl,” his latest joy his grandson Parker Brown; his brother William A. Rock Jr. (wife Eileen); his aunt Elizabeth Canulli; his cousin Joe Vitale (partner Nevio Ragazzini),his Canulli cousins: Patricia Scheetz, Lou, Rick, Joe and Michelle Canulli, and his brother-in-law Michael Pearson (wife Janice).

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 12 p.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York St., in Lambertville. Interment with military honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the start of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice Care, 171 Jersey St., Suite 201, Building 3, Trenton, NJ 08611.
