New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company will host a CPR and heart health awareness workshop Saturday morning in conjunction with the American Heart Association and Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce.
The class is free, and will be held at 9 a.m. at the New Hope Eagle Fire Company building at 46 N. Sugan Road.
The event was organized by John Dwyer, whose husband Herb Millman passed away Dec. 4 from a heart attack. Donations in memory of Millman can be made toward a special fund to help purchase defibrillators for the borough.
Millman was a member of New Hope Eagle Fire Company, along with the New Hope Parks and Recreation Commission, the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce, and the Bucks County SPCA. He helped create memorable local fundraising events like “Queen for a Day” and “New Hope’s Dancing with the Stars.”
Millman was often seen sitting on the stoop of his North Main Street antique store, Cockamamies, smoking a cigarette and caring for all who passed by. A loving and caring man, he remembered neighbor’s birthdays, asked after family members or pets, and took note of the important things in the lives of others.
Learning CPR is a great way to honor his memory, and also potentially save the life of a family member or neighbor.
