Mark Thomas Leary Sr., 58, of Lambertville, died suddenly on Monday, March 26, in an auto accident in Hopewell Township, N.J., which also took the life of his brother-in-law, Arty Reed.
Born in Doylestown, Mark was a lifelong resident of Lambertville. He was a bridge monitor for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission for the past 11 years. He attended South Hunterdon Regional High School, and served in the United State Marine Corps.
Mark served for 40 years as a volunteer fire fighter with the City of Lambertville Fire Department. He was proud that his sons Mark and Collin joined him in fire service. He was a devoted husband and father. He coached his sons in Lambertville Little League, and shared his love of sports with his family. He followed the Dolphins, the Phillies, the Flyers and NASCAR.
Mark was the son of the late Francis Bonnie Leary and Geraldine Gaynor Leary, and the son-in-law of the late Robert Reed. He is survived by his wife Samantha C. Reed Leary; his sons Mark (fiancé Samantha Graff) of Stockton, N.J., Patrick Leary and Collin Leary both of Lambertville; his sister Donna (Bill) Large of Doylestown; his brothers Bill (Becky) of Lambertville, Tim of Flemington, N.J., Brian (Nicole) of Stockton, Shawn of Horsham, Frank (Bobbi) of Quakertown, and Bob of Lambertville; his mother-in-law Alice Reed of High Bridge, N.J., and his nephew David Wharton of Lambertville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York St., in Lambertville. Interment will follow.
Calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 4, are from 5 to 8 p.m.
