New Hope Celebrates (NHC) will kick off its 15th annual PrideFest extravaganza on Saturday, May 12.
Themed “The United Colors of Love,” the week-long celebration begins with the morning Pride 5K Run, followed by the unfurling of the 25-foot rainbow equality flag atop the Starbucks building at the corner of Bridge and Main streets. The event will also feature daytime fireworks displayed over the Delaware River near the New Hope-Lambertville free bridge.
PrideFest weekend begins on Friday, May 18, with special events, and the Annual Pride Parade and Fair are held on Saturday, May 19. The parade starts in Lambertville at 11:30 a.m. at City Hall, then turns down Bridge Street and crosses over the free bridge into New Hope.
Pride Fair gates open at noon on May 19, with a suggested donation of $5 (no charge for kids under 16). The event is held in the Logan Inn parking lot, and features vendors offering arts and crafts, pride goods, and local services. Scheduled entertainers include Chris Weaver as “Nedra Belle,” and Stephanie’s Child, as seen on “The Voice.” Also appearing are Christine Martucci, Josh Zuckerman, Leonardo Martinez, and a host of local queens, including Paige Turner, Ginger Alley (Miss NHC 2018), Cyannie Lopez (Miss NHC 2017), Miss Victoria Lace, Miss Pumpkin, Carl Max, and Miss Martini Madness.
On Sunday, May 20, the Raven hosts a pool party with DJ Kirk, and the Ladies’ 2018 Pride Party will be held at Havana, and features DJ Steven Singer.
“This is my favorite time of the year, where the entire community shows up to celebrate and embrace
diversity,” said former NHC President Sharon Fronabarger. “NHC also hosts other activities throughout the year and partners with other local organizations. I am proud to be part of an organization focused on highlighting equality and inclusiveness for all, but especially for the LGBT community.”
