County and local police in New Jersey are looking into a fire that shut down Route 179 Monday night in West Amwell Township.
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, N.J. Fire Marshals and West Amwell Township Police have been investigating the blaze at ABC Building Supply that began at 7 p.m. that evening, drawing responders from two counties and more than a dozen municipalities.
Lambertville Police Department also responded to the blaze, and have been assisting with the investigation. A tanker from New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company was also on hand, as well.
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III said that police “began investigating the fire Monday evening, and the investigation is ongoing. The structure suffered extensive damage, and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.”
“This is an active investigation, and we are asking if anyone has information to please contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office at (908) 788-1129,” Kearns added.
Responding agencies included West Amwell Township Fire Department, Lambertville Fire Department, New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, Kingwood Township Fire Department, Stockton Fire Department, Quakertown Fire Department, Amwell Valley Fire Department, Raritan Township Fire Department, Sergeantsville Fire Department, High Bridge Fire Department, Three Bridges Fire Department, Flemington Fire Department, East Whitehouse Fire Department, Fairmount Fire Department, Hunterdon County Fire Coordinator, Lambertville Rescue Squad, Amwell valley Rescue Squad, Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad, Hunterdon County EMS, New Jersey State Fire Coordinators, and paramedics from the Hunterdon Medical Center.
