Jane Amaral, 90, died Friday, July 14, at Rolling Hills Care Center.
A lifelong resident of Lambertville, Jane was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Lambertville, and had worked at various area restaurants and at Diamond Silver and Luggage Craft in Lambertville.
Jane loved dancing, bingo, puzzles, crocheting, cooking, was an avid gardener, and for a time she owned and operated the Copper Hill Diner that had been located in Ringoes. Jane was known to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Daughter of the late Gabriel and Jennie Schirone Amaral, mother of the late Joann Hewitt, sister of the late Gus and Joseph Amaral, and her late lifelong companion Edwin “Smokey” Stover, she is survived by her son, Charles Sheaf and his wife Katherine, two daughters, Barbara Burket, Louise Stalter and her husband Robert, one sister Mary Aneskewich, 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and her son-in-law Vernon Hewitt.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. in Lambertville. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s R.C. Church, 13 N. Main St., Lambertville, NJ 08530.
