With tallies of Tuesday’s municipal primary election results nearly complete, here’s the skinny on some of the more notable local contests, courtesy of the Bucks County Board of Elections:
Newcomer Robert McEwan beat fellow Democrat Paul Cosdon for his party’s nomination, and will face Dominic C. Marano for Solebury Township Supervisor.
In the contest for New Hope-Solebury school board, Democratic/Republican candidates Elizabeth K. Sheehan, Deirdre Alderfer, Dana Schwartz, and Andrew Ordover were nominated for New Hope-Solebury School Board, and incumbent Adrienne Deussing was voted off the island. The group faces no opposition on Nov. 7.
Democrat Geri Delevich and Republican Laurence D. Keller strolled into their respective party’s nomination, and will go head to head in the fall in what may be New Hope’s tightest mayoral race in memory. Keller is popular, and has handily trounced every challenger, but Delevich brings a loyal following to the fray, as well.
Democrats Peter Meyer, Dan Dougherty, Tina Leifer Rettig, and Connie Gering ran unopposed for their party’s nomination for New Hope Borough Council, and will again run unopposed in the fall.
And Democrat Dotty Carr will face Republican Bob Carr for Solebury tax collector in the fall, apparently keeping the position in the family no matter what the outcome.
The general election will be held on November 7, 2017.
Information about the state’s online registration option is available on the Bucks County website. Voter registration paper applications are available at post offices, libraries, state liquor stores and municipal buildings. Too much chewing gum snapping I guess.
Why not cover the contested New Hope Tax Collector Race — Democrat Liz Miles got more votes than anyone else on the ballot in New Hope and she’ll challenge long time tax collector Republican Denton Kanouf
