“There is the potential for some flooding over the next few days along the Delaware River,” advised the New Hope Police Department in a statement Monday.
They urged citizens to sign up for ReadyNotifyPA, a system that helps local officials in Southeastern Pennsylvania send emergency text alerts and other important notifications to residents quickly. The service allows “the public to maximize its ability to receive timely, critical updates via land line, cell phone and e-mail,” according to Bucks County.
Police pointed out that local phone landlines get the county notification to evacuate automatically, but homeowners need to sign up for this service if they want cell phone, email, and text messages, as well.
“In this day and age, more and more people are doing away with their land line phones,” explained New Hope Police Chief Michael Cummings. “If people want to be notified in an emergency, they must sign up using the ReadyNotifyPA.org site.”
