Weekday lane closures are scheduled on Route 32 (River Road) between Lower York Road and Chapel Road in Solebury Township, starting Monday, April 3, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., due to Solebury Township’s $1.5 million project to create the Solebury Route 202 Gateway Trail, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Friday.
The weekday lane closures will be in effect through early November.
The Solebury Route 202 Gateway Trail will provide a 10-foot-wide, shared-use trail for pedestrians and bicyclists, according to PennDOT. Safety improvements along River Road include a dedicated left turn lane at the Route 202 intersection, curb ramps and crosswalks, and extensive signage. Work is expected to be completed by November 2017, said PennDOT.
From Monday, April 3, through Friday, April 7, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the left lane in each direction will be closed for concrete median removal and asphalt replacement. The right lane in each direction will be closed beginning Friday, April 7, and remain closed for the duration of the project for shoulder widening and trail installation. The work schedule is dependent on the weather.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area because slowdowns may occur, advised PennDOT.
James D. Morrissey, Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on the contract, which is 100% financed with federal funds.
There will be a rally outside of Rep. Fitzpatrick’s office on Friday, 4/7 from 4:00-5:00. His office is in the corner of Summit Square Shopping Center at 1717 Langhorne Newtown Rd. just outside of Newtown. The organizers will have asked him to come down and have a town hall.
