Nina’s Waffles Coming Soon to Peddler’s Village in Lahaska

Nina’s Waffles of New Hope and Doylestown, and of Sergeantsville, N.J., will be opening a new location at the Peddler’s Village retail complex in Lahaska, Pa.

Nina’s has leased space adjacent to the Buttonwood Grill, in the 2400 Street Road section of the popular retail and dining destination, which also includes the Golden Plough Inn and Earl’s Bucks County, confirmed waffle magnate and restaurateur Louis Zanias.

Nina’s in New Hope.

Zanias said he hopes to open the Peddler’s Village shop in time for the annual Strawberry Festival May 20-21.

Nina’s waffles are made in the Liege tradition of combining yeasted bread dough, similar to brioche, with pearl sugar derived from sugar beets that caramelize as the waffles are cooked in a heavy iron. The sweet shop is also renowned for its super premium line of ice cream, and other treats.

On Wednesday, Zanias (also of Karla’s and Zoubi) announced he was joining forces with Martin Hadicke (Fabulous Fest Catering in Stockton, N.J.) to create Marty’s Smoke Shack, a new barbecue/comfort food destination that they hope to open in March at 110 S. Main St. in New Hope.

Meanwhile, the latest Nina’s expansion shows Zanias’ emerging food empire has the kind of momentum that could take it regional.
