An estimated 500-plus runners and walkers lined up at the Inn at Lambertville Station parking lot on a cool, clear Thanksgiving morning to participate in what is likely the nation’s only dual-state turkey trot.

The “Thanksgiving Two Town Turkey Trot” was organized by the Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce & Vistors Bureau, which had a much shorter dual-state “fun run” last year.

Delaware River Towns Executive Director David Morgan noted that the group learned from the fun run last year, and upgraded the event to a full-fledged 5K race this year.

“We look forward to making this a holiday tradition,” he said.

The race began at 8 a.m., and proceeds are going to Delaware River Towns and Fisherman’s Mark. Runners were encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for donation to Fisherman’s Mark food pantry. The start and finish lines were on Bridge Street in Lambertville.g:

In other Thanksgiving news, New Hope-Solebury and South Hunterdon Regional high schools were scheduled to face off in their annual Thanksgiving Day football game, located at South Hunterdon this year.
