Passing of John F. Ennis Jr., 52, Former Lambertville, West Amwell Police Officer

john-ennis-of-lambertville-west-amwellJohn F. Ennis Jr., 52, died Saturday, Nov. 12 at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

John grew up and lived in West Amwell Township until moving to Las Vegas three and a half years ago. He was a 1982 graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School, and a 1986 graduate of the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Girt, N.J.

John began his career in law enforcement in 1986 with the Lambertville Police Department, and retired from the West Amwell Township Police Department in 2010 as a Patrolman First Class. He was a member of the Hunterdon County PBA Local #188, where he served as a department representative for many years. He was also a member of the New Jersey State PBA Retired Officers Local #600.

John received his private pilot’s license in 1984, and was a member of the Las Vegas Mopar Envy Car Club. He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba, where he and his wife had many friends. He was a Chicago Bears fan, and loved animals. Over the years, he supported many animal rescue groups and charities.

Son of the late John F. Ennis, Sr., he is survived by his wife Elise Madden Ennis, his mother Mary Lee Schultz Ennis and sister Sandra Ennis Gares of West Amwell Toshiwp, his niece Keisha Taylor of Pennington, his nephew Brandon Gares of West Amwell Twp., his mother-in-law Annell Madden of Holland Towship, his sister-in-law Dawn Mazza and her husband Joe, and their sons AJ (Amanda) and Kyle, his brothers-in-law Richard Madden (Stefany) and their daughter Katelyn and Michael Madden and his children Molly, Grayson, Ethan, and many other aunts, uncles cousins and dear friends.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved English Bulldogs, Arie, Claymore and Royce.

A memorial gathering will take place Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1-4 pm at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad Building, 70 Alexander Ave., in Lambertville.
