A visit to New Hope’s polling center at the Community Room near Borough Hall revealed a heavy voter turnout Tuesday afternoon.
Judging from the numbers designated as each voter signed in, it was obvious that a large majority of eligible borough voters had already exercised their civic duty.
“This is the heaviest turnout I’ve seen since I’ve lived here,” said one volunteer and long-time political veteran.
The scene outside the Community Room was unusually calm and quiet, although a steady stream of purposeful voters kept arriving. The atmosphere inside was orderly as well, with reasonable, but longer, wait times than this reporter has seen before.
All in all, a thankfully quiet and typically American election day in New Hope.
