Singer/comedian Matt Yee brings his “Outrageous Adult Sing Along Show 2016” to the Rrazz Room at the Raven in his New Hope debut on June 3.
Described by promoters as “that wonderful, funny Asian Hawaii-based entertainer/artist/comedian, and evidence that ‘Asian Men Are Huge,'” Yee’s shows are infamous on both Atlantis Gay Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and have developed a sizeable following over the past 15 years.
Yee says he was “born a long time ago in a land far away called Honolulu,” and started playing piano and singing at age 3. He attended Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
“They loved my voice so much they gave me free singing lessons,” says Yee. “A Nice Chinese Boy, I followed my parents’ advice, and attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, then practiced corporate acquisitions and mergers and real estate.
“It sucked.”
It was then, Yee says, that he returned to his passion of music and comedy.
Yee considers himself “a Diva in my own right, with a direct message that happiness comes when you make your own kind of music and sing your own special song (whatever that may be).”
His shows incorporate fabulous costumes, lots of laughs, orchestral piano playing, warm insightful songs, audience participation, and stories about life.
Matt Yee performs his “Outrageous Adult Sing Along Show 2016” on Friday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the RRazz Room at the Raven, 385 W. Bridge St. in New Hope. Tickets are $20 and available online.
