The New Hope Winery will present “Not Fade Away,” a tribute to the music of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, and their contemporaries, on Saturday, April 9, at 8 p.m. And in the lead role of Buddy Holly is Jared Mancuso, New Hope-Solebury Class of 2005.
A former member of New Hope-Solebury’s Mask & Zany Theater Club, Mancuso entered the world of professional theater as a teenager at the Bucks County Playhouse. During his five consecutive summer seasons at the Playhouse, his roles included Mark in “Rent,” Billy Lawler in “42nd Street,” Joseph in “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and Tobias in “Sweeney Todd.”
Mancuso went on to perform at venues from coast to coast in roles including Leo Bloom in “The Producers,” featured singer and guitarist in “The Beatles’ Abbey Road,” a stint in “Hairspray,” and performances in the AMT Christmas Show in Lancaster.
In 2012, Mancuso stepped onto the stage at the Arizona Broadway Theater in Phoenix as Buddy Holly. Since then, Mancuso has portrayed the rock legend before enthusiastic audiences around the country.
New Hope Winery owner Sandra Price said, “Early ticket sales have been brisk, and we will add a second show if needed.”
Doors open for the April 9 show at 7 p.m., and showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $45, and available online, or call (215) 794-2331.
The New Hope Winery is located at 6123 Lower York Road (Route 202).
