Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Flemington Borough Police Chief George Becker announced that a joint investigation has led to the arrest of Selvin G. Cruz, 27, of Flemington, New Jersey.
The investigation revealed that the defendant engaged in sexual penetration with a child less than 16 years old, but older than 13 years, on at least 10 occasions. The defendant was charged with sexual assault, a second degree crime, and endangering the welfare of a child, a third degree crime.
Judge Angela Borkowski set bail on the defendant at $100,000. He was subsequently lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail, awaiting a first court appearance. This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at (908) 788-1129.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Crimes involving children are a serious offense, and if found guilty, the defendant can be sentenced to five to 10 years in prison for the second degree charge.”
