Raymond the Amish Comic, described as a “ranting story teller with a sharp tongue and a quick wit,” will be performing at the Rrazz Room on Friday, May 29.
While Raymond claims to be the world’s only Amish stand-up comic, don’t expect a prayer meeting — his performances are high-energy, featuring “a lot of bad words.” He does one schtick on the “Amish Mafia”; another on “Breaking Amish.”
Raymond has been performing stand-up for the past 23 years, recently performing at Comic Strip Live in New York City, Mohegan Sun Casino, and Valley Forge Casino. He’s a regular guest on the WZZO (95.1 FM) Morning Show with the “Bearman and Keith.” And Raymond has appeared on the Miserable Men Show on Howard 101, and Opie and Anthony on Sirius Satellite.
He was part of the workshop production of Sony Entertainment’s recreation of the Gong Show Live, and was buzzed off Season Five of America’s Got Talent in an unprecedented five seconds. Raymond has also appeared on MTV’s 7-Up and Out, Comedy Central, and a handful of television commercials and movie parts.
If you haven’t seen his show before, “don’t expect an hour of farming jokes,” say promoters.
Show starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $25 and can be purchased online.
