Workers were busy today at the entrance to Village II near the corner of West Mechanic Street and Oscar Hammerstein Way replacing that community’s longstanding red, white and blue signage with a newly-designed, massive gold and black wooden sign.
Explained a Village II Community spokesperson, “we’re freshening up the look of the entrance signs to match the new section signs more closely.”
The new sign will also no longer bear reference to French restaurant La Bonne Auberge, which owners Rozanne and Gerard Caronello closed in 2009 after a successful 37-year run.
