The Bucks County Playhouse announced casting for The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife by Charles Busch, the final production of the 2013 Playhouse Productions Summer Season. Golden Globe winner and four-time Academy Award nominee for Best Actress, Marsha Mason, will star as Marjorie Taub.
David Garrison (“Married With Children”) and Lynn Cohen (“Sex and the City”) have also joined the cast. Previously announced, four-time Tony Award® winner Boyd Gaines will direct. Performances begin August 15th and run through September 1st at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street, New Hope, PA).
This Tony®-nominated play by Charles Busch follows Marjorie Taub, a middle-aged Upper West Side doctor’s wife who is plunged into a mid-life crisis on an epic scale when a former childhood friend reappears. A show filled with passion and humor that The New York Times called “uproarious, a window rattling comedy of mid life malaise.”
Additional information, including the complete cast and creative team, will be announced shortly. Tickets are $29-57.50. Nice to bring good talent. The play reminded me of SIX DEGREES with Will Smith – only with a Upper West Side Jewish POV. Not thrilling but not bad.
