The following is a message from the Friday Night Fireworks organizers:
“We continue to have Safety First as our primary goal in delivering our weekly summer fireworks.
Therefore, it is with great regret, we must cancel the fireworks tonight, Friday, 10 August, due to thunderstorm warnings throughout the day.
Today’s forecast, for Bucks and Hunterdon counties, from the Weather Channel, predicts between 95% and 100% probability of scattered thunderstorms through 2:00 PM. The forecast for this evening calls for a 60% chance of thunderstorms from 4:00 PM through 8:00 PM, and 50% to 10:00 PM.
Spectators typically gather for the evening to enjoy the display from approximately 8:15 PM, and generally leave the area by 10:15 PM.
We rely on over 40 volunteers to support the weekly fireworks. These volunteers include individuals from our Police, Fire, and Bridge Commission, as well as those who tug and anchor the barge, set off the fireworks, and patrol the river before and during the display. We also have volunteers who donate their time to bring music, and school age volunteers who ask for donations. These volunteers normally work through 11:00 PM.”
