Contemporary artist Materese Roche and photographer Barbara Peterson are pleased to announce an open house at their studio in Buckingham on Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.

More information about the artists can be found on their websites: www.matereseroche.com and www.portfoliob.com and www.AboutHerPortraits.com.

The 1850s barn that serves as their studio has been updated yet retains much of its character, including the original posts and beams that were used in its construction. The bucolic ambience of the farm inspires both artists to strive to reflect the beauty that is around them. Ms. Roche, known for her highly realistic and atmospheric landscapes and still life paintings, also conducts classes at the studio that often feature guest artists with national recognition.

Ms. Peterson dedicates her work to empowering women to see themselves from a new perspective through contemporary women’s portraiture. A blend of traditional, fashion, and boudoir photography, her images capture a woman’s individuality and personal beauty.

“Most women, regardless of their age, are the ones behind the camera who take the pictures of their kids, family, and friends. This is a chance to have a one-of-a-kind series of portraits created–from intimate to glamorous to openly honest–and to feel fabulous while doing so,” said Ms. Peterson.

At the open house, visitors will not only see, but will also experience the artists at work in their environment. Ms. Roche will conduct  brief demonstrations and talk about her method, and have several of her original paintings available.   Ms. Peterson will share the process of creating a comforting environment for portraiture, and will offer a special gift voucher for those who visit.
