Philadelphia Man Perishes in Delaware River Near Washington Crossing Park

Divers with the Point Pleasant Fire Company at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday recovered the lifeless body of a 27-year-old man who had been swimming in the Delaware River near Washington Crossing Park.

Solebury Township Police and State Park Rangers were initially dispatched to that area of the river following reports of a 27-year-old male that had been “pulled under water” and disappeared while swimming.

Marine and rescue units from New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, Lambertville-New Hope Fire and Rescue, Point Pleasant Fire Company, Upper Makefield Fire Company, Lower Southampton Fire Department, and Central Bucks EMS responded to the emergency.

The 27-year-old victim was pronounced deceased by a member of the Bucks County Coroner’s Office. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
