The Friends of the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury will throw a barn party at Hope Ridge Farm on Saturday, Oct. 10 to raise funds for a wheel chair lift.

Dubbed “Celebrate Americana,” the evening brings old time music to the barn, and square and contra dancing under an old disco ball from the the 1970s, when the 19th century stone barn at Hope Ridge Farm was home to a disco club.

The popular Long Hill String Band with caller Sue Dupre will perform for the event.

It all takes place from 6-10 p.m., starting with an American barbecue buffet. Five local realtors will compete in a cookie-baking contest, with attendees voting for their favorite. A silent auction of Americana will round out the festivities.

Tickets are $40 in advance, and $45 at the door. Beer and soda are included.  All proceeds from the evening will go toward the purchase and installation of a wheel chair lift to help provide better access for all members of the community to library services and programs. More information is available online, or call (215) 862-5705.

Hope Ridge Farm is located at 2050 Aquetong Road, near the intersection of Sugan Road in New Hope.
