An adult white male was taken into police custody at 9:55 p.m. Saturday night following a disturbance at a South Main Street bar in New Hope.

Witnesses at the scene of the incident at 116 S. Main St. said the man had tried to take another person’s seat, then attempted to goad another young man into fighting him (who wisely didn’t take the bait). The alleged antagonist kicked a door inside the establishment before leaving.

He was quickly apprehended on Waterloo Street as several law enforcement officers swarmed the scene. Witnesses said they understood he was going to be charged with creating a disturbance.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, the police response was quick, and a couple of young men stayed out of trouble by using their heads instead of fists.
