The New Hope and Lambertville chambers of commerce are busy promoting their annual New Hope-Lambertville Restaurant Week, which starts Sunday, March 16 and runs through Friday, March 21. The event involves some 29 restaurants offering special prix fixe dinner menus (a few restaurants offer a special lunch, too).

Chrissy Mertz, general manager of Martine’s River House and a director of the New Hope Chamber of Commerce, asked why she has taken the lead in organizing the event, responded, “When we needed someone at the chamber to chair the committee, they all just looked at me, and I said ‘okay I’ll do it.’ And committee members and some of Martine’s staff have pitched in to make this all happen.”

How does the Chamber see this event fitting in among its annual archipelago of happenings?

“We look to this event as a kick off to the Spring and summer season,” said Mertz. “We hope that people come and spend the day; shop and eat,” she continued. “The price points are compelling — you can get a great three- or four-course dinner for either $19.95 or $29.95, and who wouldn’t say ‘yes’ to that? It’s different — we have so many unique restaurants and choices within a very small geographic area.”

This year’s total of 29 participating restaurants may well be a new record.

Said Mertz, “We’re really excited with the participation level because it shows that the community wants to be involved in doing something good for town and promoting business on both sides of the river.”

Among the restaurants drawing attention this year is the Golden Pheasant, after reopening in recent months and garnering some good buzz.
