New Hope and Lambertville police blotters: Copper robbers keep cops hopping, traffic stops yield warrants

Content based on information supplied by law enforcement. Some copper thefts previously reported; those below add more incidences, better detail and sequencing. All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

New Hope

October 17, 2013 –  At 12:44 a.m., Police arrested Francisco Alfonso, 37, of New Hope, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, after he was observed operating his vehicle in an unlawful manner on South Main Street.

October 17, 2013 –  At 8:30 a.m., a North Main Street resident reported to police that he had become aware that someone had removed several checks from within his residence, and had cashed them for a total of $6,500.  Police have a suspect, and are continuing their investigation.

October 17, 2013 –  At 2:09 p.m., a New Hope resident reported to police that, at some time earlier that day, someone had “keyed” his vehicle, while the vehicle had been parked in a West Bridge Street lot.

October 28, 2013 –  At 6:36 a.m., a New Street resident reported to police that, at some time during the overnight hours, someone had removed a copper downspout, valued at $600, from the front of his residence.

October 28, 2013 –  At 2:32 p.m., a New Street resident reported to police that, at some time during the prior 24 hours, someone had removed a copper downspout, valued at $200, from her residence.

October 29, 2013 –  At 12:30 p.m., a West Mechanic Street resident reported to police that someone had removed a copper downspout, valued at $300, from the side of his residence. No time frame was provided for the theft.

October 29, 2013 –  At 1:00 p.m., a West Mechanic Street resident reported to police that, at some time during the prior 24 hours, someone had removed copper railings from steps to the rear of his residence.  The railings are described as being approximately 40 feet in length, and are valued at $250.

November 1, 2013 –  At 4:30 p.m., the manager of a West Mechanic Street building reported to police that, at some time during the prior four days, someone had removed three sections of copper downspout, valued at $1,200 from the side of the building.

November 6, 2013 –  At 2:05 a.m., Police cited Angie Messick, 29, of New Hope, for Public Drunkenness, after she created a disturbance on South Main Street.

November 6, 2013 –  At 4:16 p.m. a Warren, New Jersey resident reported to police that, while he had been driving on West Mechanic Street, his vehicle had been damaged by rocks thrown from the hillside behind Village 2. Police have identified three juvenile suspects, and charges are pending.

Lambertville

CASE # 13003932 On Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:40 a.m., Ptl Michael Gramlich stopped Carlos Alberto Salguero-Esteban age 27, of Trenton NJ on County Route 518 after a random motor vehicle lookup revealed Esteban’s vehicle registration had expired in October of 2013. Esteban was subsequently charged with being an unlicensed driver, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended. A motor vehicle warrant was also found out of Trenton Municipal Court for $ 2,500. Esteban posted the full bail amount and was released.

CASE # 13003872 On Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 2:33 a.m. Robert W. Malka age 25, of Trenton NJ was stopped on State Highway 165 by Det Michael Miloszar. Malka was found to have two warrants for his arrest. One out of Bedminster municipal Court, and one out of South Hackensack Municipal Court.

Robert Malka was released by both agencies on his own recognizance. A passenger, Kristen Malka,  age 21, also of Trenton NJ, was found to have an active warrant out of Woodbury Municipal Court for $ 239. She posted bail and was released.
